Job Description - Controller

      You will support various departments to ensure the successful execution of each real estate development project. Company currently has several parcels of land under management in Miami, FL with the following types of development projects underway: workforce housing, multi-family, and commercial, solar development. Company is planning for continued land acquisition and fast paced growth and is looking for the right individual to help take the accounting department to the next level.     
 

 
        Summary     
 
      The Controller will report to the CFO and have a variety of responsibilities and play a critical role in the company by maintaining the books and records for multiple entities, including the entities of 3 real estate development projects currently underway. You will also be involved in the process of consolidating financial statements, preparing, and updating budgets and forecasts, preparing ad hoc reports for other departments as directed.     
 

 
  ]Essential Functions

 
•   Maintain all books and records for multiple entities.
 
•   Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany journal entries and eliminating entries, compiling ad hoc reports, and running the month end close process.
 
•   Prepare and maintain amortization schedules
 
•   Monitor available funds in each entity to ensure transfers are completed timely as needed
 
•   In charge of the AR/AP function, including recording and paying invoices while using the appropriate level of due diligence to ensure the appropriate documentation and support is collected and proper approvals are received
 
•   Collaborate with other departments to prepare accurate and timely project plans and budgets, including managing the progress billings with subcontractors
 
•   Subcontract compliance management
 
•   1099 report preparation and filing
 
•   Job receipts and expense report management
 
•   Meet processing and reporting deadlines
 
•   Ensure compliance with GAAP, including revenue recognition and capitalization policies.
 
•   Continuously assess the current processes and procedures and make recommendations to improve efficiency and controls within the accounting and finance department as well as our entire organization with the mindset of constantly improving as we continue to change and evolve.
 

 
        Education, Experience, Knowledge     

 
•   Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
 
•   4+ years’ experience
 
•   Working knowledge of GAAP
 
•   Experience in Construction, Real Estate, or Property Management preferred but not required
 
•   Experience with ERP software implementation or conversion preferred but not required
 
•   Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills
 
•   Highly motivated, organized, diligent, and detailed individual.
 
•   Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
 
•   Proficiency in MS Office 365.
