We are looking to hire a Senior Portfolio Associate to join the Private Markets Analytics Group. Portfolio Associates sit within the Private Market Analytics group and specialize in the application of the tools and data developed by the Private Market Analytics group. They work closely with client and investment leads to model client portfolios, develop analysis to support portfolio construction decisions, evaluate the drivers of portfolio returns, and respond to client queries regarding private markets. Portfolio Associates will also work closely with Private Market Analytics and Technology colleagues to develop and test new portfolio models and datasets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform portfolio modeling, performance analysis and performance attribution for our global client base
Oversee and execute investment pacing and allocation models
Create and manage tools for performance benchmarking
Serve as a subject matter expert on portfolio modeling tools and HL proprietary datasets.
Work closely with other investment teams and client groups to enhance portfolio management capabilities
Train and oversee junior analysts on portfolio modeling tools
Advise global clients on topics related to portfolio analysis, private markets asset allocation, and performance assessment
Respond to client queries and requests for analysis of the private markets industry using Hamilton Lane’s proprietary datasets
Prepare quarterly market briefs and short research pieces on topics of client interest
Actively participate in calls and presentations with clients and prospects
Enhance & maintain the firm’s proprietary datasets
Asist Private Market Analytics with the maintenance of proprietary private markets datasets
Partner with financial technology team to enhance, develop and test features & services for Hamilton Lane’s financial technology offerings
Advise internal stakeholders on data related projects
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS; Education and/or Experience:
At least 3 years of experience working in financial services, consulting or data analytics. Familiarity with private markets or other alternative assets preferred.
Demonstrated ability to formulate creative solutions to unstructured problems.
An understanding of basic quantitative financial concepts, such as performance calculations, risk analysis, valuation techniques, portfolio optimization techniques, and / or statistical analysis.
Proficiency with analyzing and modeling financial data in Excel
Experience with statistical programming languages (R, Stata, Matlab, Python, etc.) and / or data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlikview, PowerBI, etc.) is a plus.
Ability to lead small teams, supervise / train junior analysts.
Experience interacting directly with clients on complex topics.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
