Job Description - Director of Human Resources, Field Support

POSITION OVERVIEW:

If you relish a challenge, and feel you have what it takes to work at the peak of the logistics industry, we are looking for the best and the brightest to represent us to the market as our Director of Human Resources, Field Support.  The Director of Human Resources, Field Support is a strategic partner within the Company and is responsible for communicating company policy, as well as directing and coordinating personnel-related activities including employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, wellness, organizational development, and training resources.  He or she will also to help with company acquisitions and field support.  The Director must be able to build rapport with employees and business partners, as well as maintain poise, professionalism, and take confidentiality very seriously.





KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as HR business partner with Company’s Strategic Partners and field offices, including corporate-owned stations; support with new acquisitions and integrations of new teams
  • Work with Human Resources and internal Hiring Managers to recruit and develop potential talent, both internally and externally for current open positions. Build a high-quality task force comprised of top performers.
  • Keep General Counsel apprised of current issues, problems and concerns of the employees. Assist and support General Counsel with M&A, including all integrations of acquisition activities.
  • Conduct internal investigations
  • Maintain and administer the Employee Manual, including assisting with any State-specific addendums as related to acquisitions and new locations
  • Conduct training for all employees and act as spokesperson at corporate events and initiatives
  • Study legislation, arbitration decision, and employer/employee relations reports to assess industry trends
  • Write and deliver presentations to General Counsel or management, as directed, regarding Human Resources policies and practices
  • Establish in-house activities and implementation of programs that address company needs across division lines
  • Understand and examine the impact of culture; mitigate the risk of cultural incoherence; develop a structured process to effectively diagnose, manage and integrate organizational cultures
  • Manage 401(k) program and work with 3rd-party plan administrator. Maintain all plan documents/reporting and be responsible for responding to audits.
  • Administer annual and midyear check-in, including 30-day post-hire check-in
  • Support learning and development across all aspects of people management and processes; including but not limited to annual training, harassment
  • Manage and oversee other members of the Human Resources department
  • Comply with Company’s C-TPAT Security Profile
  • Directly supervise employees in the Human Resources department, in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including those employees in the field locations responsible for HR
  • Other responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems



PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 8-15 years of related experience and/or training
  • Positive attitude; resilience to rapidly changing and sometimes highly stressful environments
  • As a small HR department, we need someone willing to "do as well as having the poise and capabilities of management and executive engagement
  • Highly professional atmosphere with a variety of cross-functional teams   we need a versatile and open person capable of engaging with different types of personalities
  • Ability to effectively communicate, in writing and verbally
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents
  • Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Effectively present information to and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
