Job Description - Sr. Electrical Estimator

A well-known construction company is seeking to add a Senior Electrical Estimator to their team.

  • Lead and effectively manage the estimating department through guidance, advice, technical and administrative direction.
  • Coordinate and participate in pre-bid and takeoff meetings to strategize estimating process.
  • Oversee and finalize all take offs, bid packages, and schedule of values completed by estimators prior to submission to ensure accuracy.
  • Review, finalize and submit change orders.
  • Collect and analyze all size project costs, including: raw materials, labor/man power, equipment and tools to ensure estimates are accurate.
  • Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs.
  • Update costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes.
  • Interface with vendors, project managers, engineers, and procurement departments.
  • Participate in the preparation of bid presentations to clients.
  • Stay abreast of industry related estimating software and trends to ensure the estimating team are able to provide the most accurate estimates to clients.
  • Effectively manage time to ensure bid package submittals meet deadlines.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and industry knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing industry related publications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • 5+ years' extensive experience in electrical estimating.
  • 2+ years' managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated success in winning bids.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical construction materials and methods.
  • A keen eye for detail with the ability to accurately conduct and review quantity surveys of materials, labor, equipment and tools from analyzing drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Experience utilizing estimating software to create takeoff and estimates through Accubid, Bluebeam, Plan Swift, ConEst Intellibid, and Adobe.
  • Ability to have a "Can Do” positive attitude when working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to present work to colleagues, supervisors and clients utilizing sales techniques and relationship building skills.
