Senior Linux Engineer

The IT Infrastructure team is looking for a fulltime Linux Systems Engineer who has significant exposure to critical business systems and environments requiring 24x7 systems availability. The selected candidate will be responsible for all activities associated with the support, management, and operation of UNIX/Linux platforms.

Responsibilities:

· Support production systems hosting real time trading applications.

· Administer production and nonproduction, co-located and cloud infrastructure and services. Troubleshoot system issues and perform root cause analysis. Support QA and development team test environments.

· Automation of utilities and tasks using bash or Python.

· Maintain Puppet Enterprise configuration management infrastructure and code base.

· Perform after-hours production infrastructure upgrades, OS patching, and configuration management updates.

Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

· Lead the design and deployment of new infrastructure projects. Improve existing infrastructure.

· Document and improve existing IT infrastructure standards and run-books.

· Maintain backup and disaster recovery systems. Netbackup & Veeam

· Maintain company security best practices and improve company security posture.

Required Qualifications:

• Senior Linux administrator background
  • Level 2/3 troubleshooting
  • RHEL 6/7
  • Experience building physical & virtual systems (not cloud)

• Strong experience in VMware infrastructure administration 6.5-7.0
  

  • Exposure to vCenter appliance (VCSA)
  • DRS/SDRS/vmotion troubleshooting
  • Experience with ESXi host firmware and OS upgrades

• AWS
  

  • VPC, subnet, security group, IAM administration

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Knowledge of networking concepts (firewalls, load balancers, 10G Ethernet, TCP/IP, routing, packet capture and analysis, bonding).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Senior Linux administrator background
  • RHEL 8
  • Containers, Kubernetes, OpenStack
  • Hardening
  • Low latency performance troubleshooting & tuning

• Strong experience in VMware infrastructure administration 6.5-7.0
  

  • Experience with esxcli
  • Performance troubleshooting and capacity planning with vROPS
  • Experience with VEEAM backup for VMware

• AWS
  

  • Transit gateways, basic architecture & security design

· Client enterprise hardware and monitoring.

· EMC SAN/NAS knowledge.

· Experience with Puppet Enterprise configuration management, GIT, and R10k.

· Previous financial experience.

Education:

B.S in Computer Science preferred or equivalent
